Hello, my name is Lisa Almon. I have been making bears from fur coats since 2000. To date, between custom orders and Heirloom bears, I have made over 2500 bears. It started as a hobby but it soon turned into a hobby way out of control. So I turned it into a business and called it FORGET-ME-NOT BEARS and BUNNIES.
I love creating keepsake heirloom bears, I also enjoy creating bears that I put up for adoption (even though it is hard to say goodbye to them). When it comes to fur, I only work with fur garments. I do not work with new pelts. When I first started making bears I used store patterns but I found they don't work well with real fur. I now make up my own patterns and have a lot of fun being creative. I have two children and they are really good at helping me name the bears I put up for adoption. They also have fun coming up with stories about the bears. My Husband also helps as he makes all the disks I use in assembling the bears. So this has turned into a real family affair. |
